Good guide for clear and concise legal writing

Let's be honest, you're going to buy this book because it's required for your class. What I say doesn't really matter. However, I think this is a pretty good book. I'm actually going to keep this book, unlike my casebooks.
If you are a solid writer (and maybe you think you are, but maybe you're not), a significant portion of the material is redundant. Topic sentences, paragraph structure, and that sort of stuff. However, it's not bad to be reminded of that stuff when you're trying to adjust your style to writing legal arguments.
It's an easy book to read. Every complicated idea is made simpler through step by step examples. They also have some nice sections at the end about how to write specific legal documents like a demand letter or appellate brief.
The one criticism I have is that the section on small scale organization is rather cursory. The IRAC format is one of the most important things you can learn in legal writing. IRAC (by whatever name it's called) is a straightforward style, but given the importance, I wish the book had addressed it more thoroughly and directly.

This book is useful to have for a law student's legal writing courses. It explains everything easily enough, and I can think of many situations where this book would come in handy. A little expensive, but unfortunately that is the norm for school books.
