Brilliant
By Gardener
I have an interest in energy medicine as both a diagnostic and curative system. i have been deeply disappointed. Most practitioners don't know how to use these machines to heal or diagnose chronic health problems. However they are able to be more effective with acute illnesses. Why the lack of results with chronic health problems? In my experience its due to not spending hardly any time looking at the diet, environmental toxin exposure, medical history or other basic factors. They want to immediately look at the accupoints on the meridians and balance them. They are trying to fine tune a car with bad gas in the tank, one flat tire, and with bad spark plugs. They want to do some fine tuning on the electrical nervous system and adjust the computer, maybe reprogram it to not over react to things? Thats like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Fortunately Dr Mumby is not one of these near sighted practitioners and instead shows evidence of having a good understanding of the basics. He wrote a book on food allergies. So my grievance is with the majority of people who use the EDS machines and have no prior medical or homeopathic training.
My experience started Back in the 1980's. I tried out EDS (electro dermal screening). I went to 9 practitioners but only one was able to help me. He got run out of the state by the medical community after my second visit, probably because he was too successful. I went to 7 other practitioners in the following ten years with no benefit. Anyhow Virtual Medicine has possible explanations as to why I did not get results with these other practitioners and why I did get results with one practitioner. Dr Mumby says that "the machines do not think for us and.... Nothing can take the place of clinical experience on the part of the practitioner."(p138) The practitioner who helped me had training as a homeopath and therefore was familiar with the use of homeopathic medicines for improving ones health and not just the use of homeopathics for balancing points on the meridians. There is a difference, some problems are energetic in cause and some are due to bad diets, nutritional deficiencies, pathogens, etc. Energetic and emotional causes are easier to correct with homeopathy than nutritional and dietary causes. As I recall he had been studying homeopathy for well over 5 years before buying the EDS machine to save time. He had been using the EDS machine for 6 years. Dr Mumby says elsewhere that it can take 5 years to become proficient with these EDS machines. As for experience the cost per hour is often the best gauge of experience when the credentials are similar (letters after the name). The better they are the more overwhelmed with clients they tend to be and the more they have to charge to have a manageable practice. The one who helped me was $200 an hour which was more expensive than the others who charged from $75-150 per hour. Dr Mumby mentions that he began to add Bach's flower remedies, (often more than one at a time) with most remedy programs because "all disease has some psychological component."(p140) The practitioner who helped me used a back flower remedy in 30c potency as part of my remedy program, none of the others practitioners gave any back flowers. Now in hind sight I can see that the successful practitioner as a result of taking my symptoms knew what the big picture was from a naturopathic perspective. He had to detox me, give emotional support and support several key organs/glands. He used the EDS machine to come up with the specific 8 homeopathic remedies that would help me (3 remedies were glandulars and 2 homeopathic hormones, 3 were detox/drainage combination remedies). The practitioners that didnt help may have gotten lost in looking for what would balance the energies in my meridians rather than the body as a whole, they followed the machine. They may have never had the big picture in mind. Many of these practitioners had no health training at all before buying a EDS machine and being trained to use the machine. Many of these practitioners are fine tuning specialists and have success with acute illness but not chronic disease as I had. They have no awareness of the big picture and its relationship to chronic illness. In hindsight it is rather amazing that I was helped by the experienced practitioner with no change of diet, no herbs, and no detoxification protocols, just homeopathics. At the time my diet did not have protein, fats and small amounts of carbs at every meal so i was having blood sugar regulation issues 3 hours after a meal. After I was helped by this practitioner I went to several others EDS practitioners. None were able to help me.
Then in 2003 I heard about the QXCI/EPFX that had strap on electrodes to prevent inaccuracies due to the varying in pressure when the manual probe was pushed against an acupuncture point. There happened to be a chiropractor who was a company rep giving demonstrations of the machine at an affordable price per hour so i had him work on me for an hour. He came up with the obvious to support the adrenals. He found some remedies for this and using a option on the machine he sent these energies into my body to show me how much it better his machine could make me feel. With many people they feel an immediate balancing effect, but I felt nothing. The upshot of this was I developed the theory that people with nervous system imbalances respond better to these machines than people with other kinds of problems. Since then I have realized that high levels of stress interefere with the actions of homeopathics and energy healing. You have to be in a relaxed state for either to work most effectively. The experienced partitioner who helped me used homeopathic hormones to neutralize my hormonal response to the stress in my life. I was also stressed by more carbs than was optimal for my low blood sugar tendencies and the experienced practitioner used a homeopathic liver remedy that may have balanced that out. None of the other practitioners gave homeopathic glandular remedies. 5 years later I realized the importance of a low carb/low glycemic diet and now have removed one of my personal roadblocks to healing and removed ma roadblocks to responding to EDS/homeopathics.
The other problem is the mercury poisoning that happened due to my playing with liquid mercury and then eating cookies without washing my hands. None of the practitioners of EDS got the importance of mercury in my case, Not even the experienced one. Bad diet and mercury toxicity were responsible for over 80% of my health problems. I have talked to people who are dental assistants who have been checked for mercury toxicity with EDS and have also not been recognized as having a major mercury problem. Medical intuitives also seem to have trouble with seeing the toxic metals in people. The only practitioners who do asses mercury are those who believe everyone has it and are looking for evidence that its not a major problem.
There is a lot more than just an enlightening and informative explanation of EDS in Virtual Medicine. It is very much an in depth analysis of many modalities. I especially like Dr Mumby willingness to be critical of some of the modalities he discusses. He really is trying to inform the reader not just promote the field as is the case with many practitioners. Anyhow I bought the 2005 edition of the book and am thinking of buying the 2008 edition to see what may have been added in the later edition. Interested to see if he mentions the biomodulator from Senergy.

A Much-Needed Paradigm Change in Medicine
By Mystic Manifesting
Modern mechanistic science views disease as a biological malfunction that needs to be manipulated and controlled with pharmaceutical chemicals. Noncomplying tissues must be burned with radiation or excised through surgery. But what if this paradigm that dominates medical science is not only completely flawed but ultimately harmful to long-term health?

The new paradigm based on quantum physics views ill health as an electromagnetic disturbance in the energy field of the human body, a body created and maintained not by biology but by information fields. As Rupert Sheldrake presents it, life and the conscious process make matter, and not the other way around.

And since everything is created and formed by information fields, these fields can affect one another. For example, the information field and radiation put out by bacteria can interfere with our own energy signals resulting in disease. Specialized equipment has been used diagnostically for decades to "listen" for transmissions from pathogens and cancel them out using electromagnetic inversion. Cancer fields can be discovered years before cancer is detected using conventional diagnostics.

Prof. Scott-Mumby writes: "Disease can now be redefined as a disruption, cessation or distortion arising in the information and energy fields. The best way to approach disease then, surely, is by correcting these disturbances, which will then eliminate the disharmony and disease process--in other words, bring about healing."

Virtual Medicine explains the history and science of energy medicine, the people behind these discoveries, the electromagnetic machines past and present used in diagnosis and treatment, how various energy therapies work, the potential ill effects of radiations in our environment and more.

Virtual Medicine is a book every health enthusiast should own and is essential reading for those skeptics who scoff at therapies like homeopathy, acupuncture, hands-on healing or even the power of the mind to affect the body. This book truly offers a completely different and exciting view for the future of medicine.
