Good review for each day and not boring.

I use these books for homeschooling to start off each of the required 180 days. It helps me to keep track of how many days we have done and it allows me to see what we have done in math each day. Each page has different types of problems, so the kids don't get bored. They are truly grade appropriate work. The additional CD is nice, so you can print out pages again and have a file on hand. These would be truly great for "morning work" activities for teachers.
Would definitely buy these each year. I just with they made them for spelling, language arts science. etc.

Good daily review on math skills

This is a quick daily review for 4th graders. I originally bought it for my 5th graders for the beginning of the year practice, but then gave it to the 4th grade teachers. I then bought the 5th grade book. It keeps upper end students' skills sharp and reinforces skills to my struggling students. I use other reviews intermittently but appreciate the ease of this series. It also has record keeping capabilities to show deficits in repeat skill areas.

My Favorite Piano Book

I heard someone playing Nuvole Bianche on You Tube and had to have this sheet music. I only took 3 years of piano lessons as a child, making it through Michael Aaron Grade 4. I have recently taken up playing again and have struggled with classical and Scott Joplin ragtime, both of which I like but find difficult. I am not a great sight reader, but I was able to sit down and play these songs right away without many mistakes. The music is simple and repetitive, but in a good way, like listening to a stream or rainfall.

There aren't a whole lot of ledger notes nor a bunch of notes being played at one time, and the rhythm is not complicated, yet the music makes you sound like a better piano player than you really are. I own a stack of sheet music about a foot tall, but this is my very favorite. It is different than any other music I have, very emotionally expressive. Too bad it is bound like a regular paperback book and does not lie flat. Since the pieces are long, that makes it very difficult to turn pages.

Pleasant but a bit ponderous

I enjoyed listening to some of these tunes, but after playing some of them, I realize they are rather repetitive and a bit simple, musically. I also question the transcription of one of the tunes, that seems to have the wrong meter.

love this collection

I am returning to the piano as an adult and came across Einaudi's music. It is meditative and fun to play. The music, is minimal, simple, yet elegant and sophisticated sounding. I am a beginner-intermediate and this book has really helped improve my playing. I have several of his music books at this point, and this collection remains my favorite to play.

Just Closed Largest Order and Made $$$$

I have been a professional salesperson for over two decades, and have sold all over the world. Finding a sales book that actually makes me money is difficult. Most sales books are very general and motivational based. Tom Reilly is right on target. This is not the first book I have read from this author. Crush Price Objections and Coaching For Sales Success were two books that I found to be excellent. His book Value Added Selling is even better. If you want to become a multi-million dollar producer, the ideas in this book will make it happen. I don't give my commission away anymore. I am an avid reader of sales books and consider this one of the best sales books written. I just closed one of the largest orders (profitable) in my sales career using tips from this book.

Jeremiah Study Bible - a Very Great Blessing

I normally purchase my books at Amazon, but this I time I purchased the Jeremiah Study Bible at christianbook.com which is Christian Book Distributors. I have been shopping at CBD for Christian books and Bible since the late 60s, before I every owned a computer or had heard of Amazon. So out of customer loyalty, I purchased this book there. I want to be clear, as this is not an Amazon verified purchase. That said, I give the highest possible recommendation to the Jeremiah Study Bible.

David Jeremiah is a wise and mature servant of the Lord, and this study Bible reflects that. In reading this Bible, I feel as though I am sharing a Bible Study with Dr. Jeremiah. I'm taking my time, reading the text in sections, reading the footnotes, the boxed notes, and taking the time to check the cross references, even if I am familiar with them.

Is David Jeremiah infallible? No, of course not. Do I always agree with every single thing he says? No. Ruth Graham once told Billy that if she agreed with him about absolutely everything, one of them would be unnecessary. We each are responsible to think for ourselves.

Am I blessed spiritually by studying with this wonderful teacher? YES, I am. And I am awed by his spiritual wisdom and clear insights. I find that this man has a unique ability to catch the basic concepts in scripture, so as to explain them clearly and concisely. He has been a spiritual blessing to me for the many years I have been listening to him and reading his books. I first heard him on the radio many years ago.

This Bible is excellent quality by today's standards. Years ago, type used to be darker most of the time, and red letter, which I find distracting, didn't exist. I would be wrong to downgrade the quality of this book just because it is constructed and printed according to modern standards. The binding is sturdy, and I expect it to last. It's a good quality Bible.

The paper is very thin. Good Bible paper IS thin. And this book is loaded with information. If the paper were thicker, you couldn't carry the book -- or it would be necessary to make the type a lot smaller. So consider before you complain about the delicate paper. Thin paper is actually less likely to be damaged if you handle it carefully.

This is a big, book - relatively heavy as it is. I won't read this one lying down in bed. I have a smaller one for reading before I sleep. THIS book is a STUDY Bible -- and I settled down this morning in a good chair and with good light to read. Considering my age, I might have needed a magnifying glass and didn't. If you find the type looks light, MOVE THE BOOK SO THE LIGHT REFLECTION OFF THE PAGE IS MITIGATED. That makes it really quite readable. If you need a magnifying glass, get one you find convenient to use, because it's worth the effort to do that.

As always, I am benefitting from David Jeremiah's concise, clear, and unusually helpful insights and his ways of explaining things. I use an Old Scofield, a New Scofield, a Nelson KJV Study Bible which used to be the Liberty Annotated KJV, a Ryrie, the Archeological Study Bible (some notes more than a bit liberal in that one), and more. I find a good study Bible to be a convenient way to enjoy the benefit of what feels like dialogue with men of God, because I stop and think about what they say.

I think this one is my new favorite. David Jeremiah's incisive and very clear insights penetrate the confusion often generated by misunderstandings or by those who have an axe to grind in interpretation.

I highly recommend this Bible. I pray it will be a blessing to each individual who purchases one or who receives one as a gift.

As an afterthought, once many years ago, I decided I should read the Bible to see what it said before I decided what I thought about it -- what a revolutionary idea THAT is!!! When I finished, I put it on the shelf, like I would any other book I had read, and I left it there -- thinking I had read it and that was that. Thank God, someone asked me a question for which I could not remember the answer, but I knew it was in the Bible. Taking that Great Book down from the shelf and looking up the answer to the question, I realized just how much I had missed reading the Bible the first time through.

I now know that after reading it through once, I will have found what I am ready to absorb at that point in my life, and the next time I read it through, I will find insights that I have grown into by then. We change over the years, hopefully for the better. I read every day, sometimes a lot, sometimes only a chapter -- I just keep reading from the beginning to the end, and then I start over again. EVERY TIME I READ THROUGH THE BIBLE, I FIND SOME NEW THING FROM THE LORD. The Bible is a LIVING book -- inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and the Author of this Book will increase your insight every time you read it -- yes, even in the parts you think are tedious. One time through, you think it's dull, and another time through that may be the part that speaks to your heart.

By all means, get the Jeremiah Study Bible and use it. Don't limit yourself to that one, either. The Bible is soul food, and different teachers, each of whom have different personalities and insights, will stimulate your thinking.

But if I had to choose one study Bible, I think this one would be it. Highly recommended.

Break Out Your Magnifying Glass !

Since the quality of the content is so high, why only a 1 star rating? Let me be up front in saying that I believe Dr. Jeremiah is one of the finest Bible teachers we have today! (Balanced theologically, clarifies and explains the Scripture well, and uses great illustrations!) However, if the publisher wants the average DJ fan to actually use this, they should either provide a very powerful magnifying glass with each Bible, or bring out a large print version!! The chosen type sizes are tiny, tiny, tiny!! Please correct this asap, as the content here needs to be usable for the masses, not just those with absolutely perfect vision!!!! DGB

The prominence of finite mixture modelling is greater than ever. Many important statistical topics like clustering data, outlier treatment, or dealing with unobserved heterogeneity involve finite mixture models in some way or other. The area of potential applications goes beyond simple data analysis and extends to regression analysis and to non-linear time series analysis using Markov switching models.

For more than the hundred years since Karl Pearson showed in 1894 how to estimate the five parameters of a mixture of two normal distributions using the method of moments, statistical inference for finite mixture models has been a challenge to everybody who deals with them. In the past ten years, very powerful computational tools emerged for dealing with these models which combine a Bayesian approach with recent Monte simulation techniques based on Markov chains. It is the first time that the Bayesian perspective of finite mixture modelling is systematically presented in book form. It is argued that the Bayesian approach provides much insight in this context and is easily implemented in practice. Although the main focus is on Bayesian inference, the author reviews several frequentist techniques, especially selecting the number of components of a finite mixture model, and discusses some of their shortcomings compared to the Bayesian approach.

The aim of this book is to impart the finite mixture and Markov switching approach to statistical modelling to a wide-ranging community. This includes not only statisticians, but also biologists, economists, engineers, financial agents, market researcher, medical researchers or any other frequent user of statistical models. This book should help newcomers to the field to understand how finite mixture and Markov switching models are formulated, what structures they imply on the data, what they could be used for, and how they are estimated. Researchers familiar with the subject also will profit from reading this book. The presentation is rather informal without abandoning mathematical correctness. Previous notions of Bayesian inference and Monte Carlo simulation are useful but not needed.

Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter is Professor of Applied Statistics and Econometrics at the Department of Applied Statistics of the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. She received her Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Technology in Vienna in 1988. She has published in many leading journals in applied statistics and econometrics on topics such as Bayesian inference, finite mixture models, Markov switching models, state space models, and their application in marketing, economics and finance.

Solid, complete, and practical - superb reading!

This is by far the most complete treatment of markov switching modeling. Each chapter would lead you to a fulfilling experience. The book is technical but written in a way that is relatively easy to read and highly practical. The codes are written in Matlab, not necessarily something that everyone uses, but users could convert them to other languages. Overall, the book is simply awesome!

A good book

This is a very good book for Finite Mixture Modelling. Clear and comprehensive. I have done a large scale of literature review in this area and found this is definitely one of the best understandable materials. It is much better than the work by Marin, J.M., Mengersen, K. and Robert, C.P, which is very dry and confusing to me.

My criteria for a book are: 1. it is not confusing at the beginning; 2. it answers your question immediately when you get one; 3. when you read it again you always understand a bit more. This book has done 1 and 3 very well and 2 well.

The only disappointing point is that the author did not give the matlab code as she promised in the appendix and her website. This is a bit unacceptable.

For years I've listened to talk about the wonders of fieldbus. Claims for this technology ranged from "less wire and maintenance" to "world peace and prosperity"! It's now such a relief to have an unbiased book that explains in simple terms some of the most common fieldbus technologies. Hopefully, this information, combined with the growing availability of fieldbus products, will make it possible for me to improve the control system in my plant.

About the Author
Roy Lewicki . Dean's Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Management and Human Resources at the Max. M. Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University. He has authored or edited 24 books, as well as numerous research articles. Professor Lewicki has served as the president of the International Association of Conflict Management. He received the first David Bradford Outstanding Educator award from the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society for his contributions to the field of teaching in negotiation and dispute resolution. Professor of Management and Sociology at Vanderbilt University. His research on negotiation, influence, power, and justice has appeared in numerous scholarly journals and volumes. Professor Barry is a past-president of the International Association for Conflict Management (2002-2003), and a past chair of the Academy of Management Conflict Management Division. David Saunders Dean of the School of Business at Queens University, Canada. He has coauthored several articles on negotiation, conflict resolution, employee voice, and organizational justice. Prior to accepting his current appointment, he was director of the McGill MBA Japan program in Tokyo, and he has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and South America

Hits all the high points, doesn't dumb things down.

"Essentials of Negotiation" is the popular market version of "Negotiation," which is a texbook. This one is more of a handbook for actual negotiators. The advantages of "Essentials" is that it is streamlined (making it a better intro for beginners or refresher for experienced negotiators) and less expensive. It still includes all the major topics you want to see: distributive bargaining, integrative bargaining, psychology of negotiations (including some communications tactics), ethics, and some int'l stuff. It also has a good index, making it a nice reference tool.

While it has lots of stories and examples to help readers remember concepts, my favorite feature of this book is that the author doesn't talk down to his audience. Lewicki uses technical jargon when it is appropriate (he also explains it). That precision has value, in my opinion. People who are completely new to a study of negotiation might prefer "Getting Past No" by Ury, which is also very good but perhaps more accessible. Those with some, even minimal, experience would be well-served by this book.

Best general overview of negotiation

I have done my doctoral dissertation in negotiation and have read hundred of books and articles in this subject. "Essential of Negotiation" is the best general book dealing with negotiation. Great coverage of the subject. No doubt it is a great investment for practitioners and academics. You will not regret!

enjoyable textbook

Do you ever check a course syllabus and think, "I have to read three chapters of the text for next class!?!" No worries here. This textbook is not only worth reading, you'll actually look forward to each chapter. btw, if "Getting to Yes" isn't required, read it before your negotiations class starts. Many texts and articles published since GTY was written tip their hats before proceeding.
